How to overcome procrastination & achieve your goals in 2022

We all have desires in our hearts, dreams we want to see come true. But there is always a bridge between what we want and where we currently are. And the only way to cross over to where we desire is by consciously taking action and being intentional.

Success will never be achieved in comfort zones. Most people have all they need to improve themselves, yet they remain wretched. They have no discipline to take action. The only thing they do is garbage in and in and never implement.


What exactly is procrastination?

Procrastination is the act of voluntarily or unnecessarily delaying or postponing something despite knowing that there will be negative consequences for doing what you are doing. Procrastination isn’t the same as laziness. Procrastinating means you have an interest in doing what you are shifting forward to do some other time while laziness means that you do not even have the interest in doing the thing.

Now that a good foundation has been laid for what procrastination means, I think it is safe to jump into the business of today which is how to overcome procrastination.

1: Do it afraid. You don’t do work because you feel like it, you do work because it needs to be done.

2: Have a mindset that the time you have now is all the time you will ever have. Do not build your dreams on the timings of tomorrow.

3: Include strategies in your work plan. Stop working without clarity and directions.

4: Do not take more than you can chew. Learn to take it a step at a time. Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day.

5: Focus on the end goals, on the results you will gain from doing the actions, and not on the emotions from getting them done.

6: Forgive yourself for all the procrastinations you have made all this while and move on

7: Remove the word later from your vocabulary. Learn to do things right NOW!

8: Stop trying to be perfect.

9: Use helpful resources that will help you keep track of time and also help you in implementing. For example, apps like trello, reminders, alarms, calendars e.t.c

10: Surround yourself with people that believe in you and also share your vision with you.
